Enterprise activities for Secondary Schools
Suit You Sir! - Design a Playing Card
The challenge is to develop a contemporary design for a pack of playing cards with 4 suits,
the numbers and equivalent of court cards and 2 joker cards. This challenge has been set by Richard Edward a local printing company.
Being Enterprising

Introduction to enterprise. The students are set mini challenges to emphasise different skills that are required by entrepreneurs. They have to work as a team to complete challenges, take risks by investing in the stock market, and think enterprisingly!
Time Management
Students learn the ‘APPLE’ principle of good time management and planning – (Analyse, Prioritise, Plan, Look again, Evaluate). They are split into groups of 5 and then given a team building exercise followed by a larger scale challenge, (to plan the ‘manufacture’ of a successful pop group), which they must complete applying the APPLE principle. Thus students recognise that planning etc is extremely important in achieving goals and meeting deadlines.
Enterprise Housing

For this activity the students work in groups of 5 in the role of a property development company that is tendering for the contract to build a community development on the Greenwich Peninsula. The students will have to balance the needs of the developer, council and potential residents when they create their plan. They must present their ideas/model in the form of an exhibition stand.
We're in Business
Each group of 5 students have to set up their event management company by producing marketing/promotional materials, and “sell their company” to the other groups. Then the companies tender for the contract to organise a special event. They have to decide on a theme, entertainment, produce menus, decorations, costings etc and do a presentation/pitch to ‘the Customer’.
Money Management
Students will learn how the banking system works and the benefits of having a bank account. Topics covered include income, needs and wants, managing a budget, debit and credit, methods of payment, interest rates, and how banks work & banking services.
Trade Fairly

Students learn about the Fair Trade principle through taking part in a game. They take the role of a family in a developing country who, despite working extremely hard, struggle to stay alive. Their work is to produce trainers for sale in developed countries and they find themselves at the mercy of outside events.
The Building Game

This activity introduces the students to the four main professional job roles within the construction industry. Working in project teams, to specific job roles, the students have to replicate a model of a building, to which they have very limited access. A great communication and team building exercise.
